At least 3 times a week someone messages me what's in my morning drink. It's been about 2 years since I started drinking lemon water in the morning and I love it! The reason lemons in water is so popular is because they contain antioxidants that stimulate liver enzymes to flush toxins from the body. That sounds pretty awesome, but more so that any nutritional benefits, drinking my lemon water mentally prepares me for a healthy day ahead. It puts my mind in the right place to make the right choices- like go workout, eat right and do my Headspace meditation!
My drink incorporates some other flavors as well to maximize the nutritional punch first thing in the morning! Of course you can definitely tailor it to your tastes!
Morning Lemon Water Drink
1 mug hot water (about 12 oz)
1 tbsp lemon juice
1-2 drops lemon essential oil
1 tsp coconut oil
1/2 tsp turmeric blend (Of course fresh turmeric can be used but I don't always stock it in the house)
optional add ins- garlic, honey (if not vegan), ginger
3 tablespoons cinnamon
5 grinds of black pepper
Mix all ingredients and store in the pantry in a mason jar.
Mix everything with a spoon and enjoy!
